Our Dangerous Dependence on Canadian Oil

Eli,
Joe Nocera's piece on The Keystone Pipeline was mostly good, but there was one item that I can't resist correcting. Nocera states we get most of our oil from countries that don't like us.
The facts are:
About 38% of our oil consumption is produced in the US. 13% comes from Canada. South and Central America (including Venezuela) provides 12%, the Middle East 9%, West Africa 8% and Mexico 7%.
That is, almost 60% of the oil we consume comes from the US, Canada and Mexico. And this could grow if policy makers let it, as Nocera correctly points out.
